We are facing unprecedented stressors that impact the workplace, the family, our sense of self and well-being and the culture at large. COVID-19 not only has changed the landscape of work but is continuing to metamorphose, requiring a near-constant adaptation to what has been dubbed the “new normal.”
Compounding these emotional stressors is the current and sustained movement toward racial justice within the U.S. and around the world. This long-due self-reflection on social disparities has led us to address systemic inequities in our workplaces, communities, and healthcare systems as we come face-to-face with the perils of being Black and Brown in America. A newfound focus not only on equality but the concept of anti-racism, has played out against the most unusual and polarizing U.S. election cycles in recent memory.
We are not only “sheltering in place” but consuming a daily diet of stressful news and uncertainty. And, finally, a focus on personal economics and the broader health of the global economy is a looming presence in many minds.
